 ALOO BHORTA - আলু ভর্তা /SPICY MASHED POTATO


alu bhorta is a mouth-watering Bengali side dish, which can be enjoyed with steamed rice and moosur dal.


HOW TO COOK:

INGREDIENTS: 

  • POTATO /ALOO : 3 PCS.
  • ONION: 1 BIG SLICED
  • GARLIC CLOVES: 4
  • TURMERIC POWDER: 1 PINCH
  • DRY RED CHILI: 1 PC
  • RAW CHILI : 3-4 PCS
  • MUSTARD OIL: 3TSP.
  • SALT TO TASTE

Directions: 

  • peel the skin of potatoes and boil them in a pressure cooker or in an oven over medium heat for 20 minutes.
  • once they have slightly cooled, mash them.
  • heat a pan or Kadai with mustard oil.
  • roast dry chili for 2-3 minutes.
  • now fry the sliced onion till golden brown, and add the chopped garlic cloves till the raw smell is gone.
  • now add turmeric powder and salt, and sliced chili.
  • after that, add the mashed potato to the Kadai or pan & and continue to mash with a spatula until everything is thoroughly mixed.
  • adjust salt to your taste.
  • off the flame, and serve them with steamed rice and dal.
